Hellen Obiri Aims for Historic Boston Marathon 'Three-Peat'
Kenyan athlete Hellen Obiri is set to make history at the 2025 Boston Marathon by becoming the first woman in 26 years to win the race three consecutive times. Obiri, who transitioned from a successful 5,000-meter track career to marathon running in 2022, has already secured victories in both Boston and New York.
The 2025 Boston Marathon, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the battles of Lexington and Concord, will feature elite international competitors over the hilly 26.2-mile course from Hopkinton. Obiri will face strong competition from Ethiopia’s Amane Beriso, the 2023 world champion and fastest runner in the field, and American Desiree Linden, the last U.S. winner from 2018.
Obiri's pursuit of a third consecutive Boston title underscores her dominance in long-distance running and her significant contribution to Kenyan athletics.
